The Seminar on “Emerging and Re-emerging infectious diseases of Livestock and poultry: Role of Veterinarian”

Gujarat Veterinary Council organized a one day technical seminar in Technical Collaboration with Department of Animal Husbandry, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar and ASCAD, on 24th September 2017 at Town Hall, Gandhinagar.

The function was presided & inaugurated by Dr. Suresh S. Honnappagol, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, New Delhi.

The guests of honors of the event were Dr.Praveen Malik (Director of C.C.S. National Institute of Animal Health, Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh), Dr.S.Nagarajan (Senior Scientist of ICAR- National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases, Bhopal) and Dr. Rima Sahay (Sceintist of Maximum Containment Complex, National Institute of Virology, Pune).

Dr.A.J.Kachhiapatel (President of GVC & Director of Animal Husbandry, Gujarat State), Dr.R.S.Patel (Vice President of GVC), Dr.A.M.Thaker (Dean Veterinary College, Anand), Dr.N.H.Kelawala (Dean Veterinary College, Navsari) and Dr.D.V.Joshi (Dean Veterinary College, S.K.Nagar – Dantiwada) were attended the event. First Topic was ”Glanders- An Emerging Disease” presented by Dr.Praveen Malik, Director of C.C.S. National Institute of Animal Health, Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh Second topic “Bird Flu- Containment and Control” addressed by Dr.S.Nagarajan, Senior Scientist of ICAR- National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases, Bhopal While, Third Topic ”Vector Borne and Other Emerging Zoonotic Diseases” addressed by Dr. Rima Sahay, Scientist of Maximum Containment Complex, National Institute of Virology, Pune.

More than 550 veterinarians from Government sector, Veterinary colleges, NDDB, Dairy cooperatives and pharmaceuticals with private practitioners, Students and retired Officers participated in the seminar.
